New show outlines Pathways to successThe energetic Natalie Dickerson will kick off her new weekly cable television show titled, “Pathway to your Success” scheduled at 6 pm, Thursday, April 26, on MVTV channel 13.

Ms. Dickerson described the show’s format as “career education.” She said she will interview people in a variety of trade and professional careers. The goal is to help students and parents make wise and well-informed career decisions.

A companion website is planned for mid-May. Parents and teachers are invited to a meeting that will be held in the library in the regional high school library from 2 pm to 4 pm, April 26.

Emergency Disaster Services training

The Salvation Army is planning a training course on May 19 in two 4-hour sessions. The first is an Introduction to Emergency Disaster Services as provided by The Salvation Army. The second session is a ServSafe food handling course to provide food service in Island emergency shelters when they are used for hurricanes, winter storms etc.

Our Island Club donations

Our Island Club, an Island-based discount club, announced it has distributed more than $50,000 as part of its annual donation program.

When Club members join or renew, 20 percent of their membership is donated to a charity of their choice. Scholarships are funded by members who do not designate a specific charity, according to a press release.

Recipients included the Vineyard Nursing Association, Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School vocational programs and the Permanent Endowment Fund. A complete list of the more than 180 organizations that received donations is posted on the club’s website, ourislandclub.com.

Katharine W. Clarke joins society

Katharine W. Clarke, daughter of John and Nancy Clarke was inducted into the Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society recognizing college seniors for superior achievement in scholarship, leadership and service.
