West Tisbury police Sergeant Matt Mincone was recently promoted to the newly created rank of lieutenant as part of a restructuring intended to clarify the department’s chain of command.
Previously, the department operated with three sergeants. Lieutenant Mincone, 41, an officer in the department since 1995, will take on added administrative duties and be second in command, West Tisbury Police Chief Dan Rossi told The Times.
“He has great leadership qualities, and his enthusiasm for professionalism and community policing is contagious,” Chief Rossi said. “He has also held every rank but chief since he joined the department.”
Lieutenant Mincone is also active in the community. Outside of policing he is best known as the successful coach of the high school boys varsity hockey team.
