Price gouging undermines Island consumers
To the Editor:
I genuinely want to support local businesses and keep money circulating through the Island economy. However, my goodwill was strained when I visited a garden center to purchase an item that costs $9.99 off Island. The Island price: $97.99.
I cannot fathom any law of economics that would justify this increase. It's difficult to rally behind local businesses when one observes crass price gouging.
