Press those bell bottoms and let loose the big hair because the 70s are just around the corner in Oak Bluffs. For the first time, the Lampost will present M.V. Transperformance Saturday evening, May 5, beginning at 9 pm.

It will be a 70s night with a slew of Island bands imitating 70s top rock bands. It’s an idea Oak Bluffs soccer mom Heather Goodwin picked up in western Massachusetts. The fundraiser will help cover some of the expenses the Vineyard’s U-12 boys soccer team racks up along with its wins. Ms. Goodwin said that all of the bands are donating their performances.

The band King Cake and the Baby will be performing as Little Feat, Kahoots as Black Sabbath, Mercy Beat as Iggy Pop, Josie Wails as Queen, and Dukes County Love Affair (DCLA) as The Kinks. DJ Di will spin 70s tunes before, between, and after each group. The suggested donation at the door is $10.
