Six towns agree
To the Editor:
On May 8, Aquinnah was the final town to pass a resolution in support of Sen. Dan Wolf and Rep. Tim Madden, in their effort to get big money out of politics. To celebrate the fact that all of the towns on the Island voted to support them, there will be a short ceremony on Saturday, May 12, at 10:45 am at the West Tisbury Library. Senator Wolf and Representative Madden will be there, along with selectmen and county commissioners. The public is invited to attend.
The following letter will be presented to Mr. Wolf and Mr. Madden:
We are happy to inform you that all six towns on Martha's Vineyard have voted to support you in your efforts to pass Senate Bill No. 772. We appreciate that you are both listed as petitioners for this bill. S.772 speaks to the harmful impact on our democracy of the Supreme Court's 2010 decision in Citizens United vs. FEC.
Please use all of your influence with your colleagues in the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives to pass S. 772, as part of the national movement to overturn the Citizens United decision. We pledge to work with other organizations in the Commonwealth and around the country to ensure that this happens.
