West Tisbury Police plan to seek charges against the operator of a 2001 Grand Cherokee following a single car accident Sunday afternoon in the West Tisbury business district.
Police said Lenora C. Soloman, 47, of Oak Bluffs was traveling up-Island about 3 pm, when her vehicle crossed the opposite traffic lane, struck a utility pole, and came to rest up against a tree.
The West Tisbury fire department, Tri-Town ambulance service, and Chilmark police joined West Tisbury police in the accident response. Police used Indian Hill Road to detour traffic.
Ms. Soloman was transported to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. She was later transported by MedFlight to a Boston area hospital. The vehicle suffered significant damage, police said.
West Tisbury Police Chief Dan Rossi said police plan to summons Ms. Soloman on the following charges: operating after license suspension (subsequent offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation.
