Ice arena selects architect for renovation effort

The Martha’s Vineyard Arena has selected Mashek MacLean Architects of Vineyard Haven to develop a feasibility study for improvements, renovations, and expansions at the ice rink.

Although the rink is closed until mid-July, lots is going on, according to a press statement released May 16.

“We are excited to be working with Mashek MacLean on this important project,” Christine Todd, Y development director said. “I can think of no better firm to work on the renaissance of the rink.

“Plans are to encapsulate the existing rink to provide efficient insulation and improve the exterior appearance of the facility. We have also outgrown our lobby and need to make necessary improvements to better serve our user groups. We want to revisit the campus plan that was presented to the Martha’s Vineyard Commission by the YMCA during its review process. Who better to address that campus plan than the very firm that designed the Y?”
