There will be no bucking broncos or calf roping, but there will most definitely be a rodeo in the parking lot of the Edgartown School on Saturday, May 19.
Island kids were invited to celebrate National Bike Month by competing in tests of skill in a bike rodeo. As they weave through cones and compete for prizes, kids will also learn a little about bike safety.
The event is presented by the Edgartown police department, in partnership with the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club, the Edgartown School, Edgartown fire department, Wheel Happy Bicycles, and Mass in Motion.
The bike rodeo gets underway at 10 am, and ends at noon. It is free to all, but helmets are required.
Everyone who takes parts will have the chance to win a new bicycle.
