Motion Commotion

Becca Spiro of Chappaquiddick is leading a small group of volunteers across the nation on a 4,100-mile trip by bicycle that began in San Francisco on May 14 and will end in Washinngton, D.C.

The Motion Commotion USA 2012 coast-to-coast bike tour — the “Ocean2Ocean” campaign — is designed to promote youth fitness through education, according to a press release.

Inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” Campaign and the NFL’s “Play-60” Campaign, Motion Commotion USA is contributing to national efforts to help reduce obesity and disease among children by establishing habits of healthy living and physical activity.

And the winner is

The New York School of Visual Arts (SVA) announced the winners of its 23rd Annual Dusty Film & Animation Festival in an awards ceremony May 10 held at New York City’s SVA Theatre. The evening capped off a three-day festival highlighting over 100 films and animations by students graduating from the BFA Film, Video and Animation Department.

The 2012 Dusty winners included Nicholas Hallbilsback of West Tisbury, winner along with Steven Burgess, and Brittany Neff of the Gotham Honorary Sound Grants.
