“Annie” in a ballet performance is yours to enjoy at the Performing Arts Center on Sunday at 4 pm. The show features Megan Mendez as Annie. The special registration for the One Day University ends tomorrow. The ACE MV One Day is June 23 from 8 am to 3 pm at the high school. Explore the arts, culture, and sustainability in agriculture, energy, health, education, and the environment. Storyteller Susan Klein begins the day with a talk called “Sustainability — Common Good, Common Sense, Common Story.” Wonder if you can just go for that? Joseph Sebarenzi will conclude with thoughts on expanding our hearts to work together for a positive future. A locally farmed lunch prepared by Kitchen Porch is included. It has been suggested that the increase in car accidents has to do with our returning summer residents. I’m not sure how that works, but perhaps we can be a little more cautious while our summer visitors get used to the idea those are real cars out there. I agree there are more pedestrians wandering across the road. Let’s each work on keeping our roads safer this summer.

The Film Society offers “Elena” this Saturday at 8 pm at the Cornell Theatre. The thriller film is in Russian and features an older couple facing desperate choices.

Next Tuesday, June 5, is the first day of lobster rolls and chowder at the Legion Hall. Support your veterans and enjoy the taste of summer. Every Tuesday from 4:30 to 7 pm you can enjoy eating in air-conditioned comfort or take it out to eat on the beach. There is also plenty of parking.

Advance notice: The Vineyard Committee on Hunger will hold their annual Bread Sale a week from Saturday from 9 am until 2 pm. Bring your bread or goodies to the Linden Tree between 8:30 and 10 am that day. All proceeds from the sale are used to help relieve hunger here on the Island. Funds are especially needed to support the Island Food Pantry, Food Distribution, Family to Family, and Meals on Wheels. Do what you can to relieve hunger here.
