New VTA shuttle will serve Menemsha loop route

July 3, 2012

In an effort to ease congestion in Menemsha and provide convenient off-site parking for visitors and the employees of local businesses, the Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) is now providing shuttle bus service between Menemsha and a town parking lot adjacent to the town transfer station off Tabor House Road.

One bus (route 4) will operate on a loop between the lot and village. Morning departures at 7:50 am, 8:50 am and 9:50 am are geared to employees. The bus leaves on the hour from Menemsha at 6 pm to 9 pm.

In an email to Menemsha business owners, Chilmark executive secretary Tim Carroll said, "It is hoped that this new bus will help to alleviate the need for all of your staff to park in Menemsha."

The regularly scheduled bus that operates throughout the town (route 12) will also stop at the lot on fair weather days, departing Menemsha beach on an hourly basis from 8:36 am until 4:36 pm.
