Robert B. Burcaw died on July 8 in Bartlett, New Hampshire. He was 98.

Born on August 3, 1914, Robert was in the Navy for the early part of his adult life, and then worked for the March of Dimes till he retired. Until last year, Robert was very active in his community and volunteered at the Gibson Center on North Conway, N.H.

While in the Navy, Robert met and married the love of his life, Lois. They had three children, Leslie, Barry. and Jane. He loved all children and made sure wherever he went that he said hi to each and every one of them, Robert’s proudest moments were showing off his great great grandchildren and loved to spend time with them, taking lots of pictures.

Robert was a kind and loving father, grandfather, and husband. The greatest accomplishment of his life he would say was being not only a parent or grandparent but also being a friend.

Robert was predeceased by his wife, Lois, and his daughters Leslie Butler and Jane Ross.

He is survived by one sister; his son, Barry Burcaw, and Barry’s children, Brent and Morgan Burcaw of Kentucky; his grandson Curtis Butler and his wife, Linda, and their children, Dana, Jeremy, and Nicole, all of Stoney Point, N.Y.; his grandsons Jon Wearn, of Bartlett, N.H., and Ethan Wearn and his children, Hannah and Kentaro, of Japan, and Caitlin Foley of England. Also by Megan Foley and her son, Teagan, of California, and by great grandson Nicholas Butler and his wife, Olivia, and their children, Delilah and Archer, of Oak Bluffs.

The family would like to thank Mineral Springs long term care for taking such good care of Robert over the past year.

Services will be private and in the spring.
