To the Editor:
I wanted to write in and publicly congratulate C. J. Jones for winning the Congressional Gold Medal. A great achievement for a great man. We are lucky and honored to have him be an ambassador to our town at the info booth.
The Congressional Gold Medal is comparable to the Presidential Medal of Freedom that West Tisbury resident David McCullough received. I would like to ask him if he is comfortable living in a town that denies public walk-on access to Lambert’s Cove Beach, a town park, to fine Americans like C.J.; that a decorated black veteran who served in the segregated Marines can’t ride a public bus to your town’s beach on the Fourth of July?
