Wealthy donors to the Democratic party attended a three-day conference at the Harbor View Hotel Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Senators and prominent donors were welcomed Friday afternoon by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), an organization that funds Democratic campaigns for office.

Sens. Max Baucus, D-Mont., Bernie Sanders, D-Vt. and Chris Coons, D-Del attended the event, as did President of the Senate Daniel Inouye, who was accompanied by Capital police.

In the 2011-2012 campaign cycle, the DSCC began with $753,595 in cash on hand, and has raised $69,047,080, according to data from the Federal Election Commission. The DSCC has disbursed $42,264,351 this year.

The cost of attendance for the weekend retreat, or how much was raised, is unknown. A spokesman for the committee said the event was private and refused to release the amount raised or who attended.

“From grassroots organizing to candidate recruitment to providing campaign funds for tight races, the DSCC is working hard all year, every year to elect Democrats – and give President Obama the help he needs on Capitol Hill to move our country forward,” reads the committee’s mission statement on the group’s website.
