Photographer Mariana Cook's gelatin silver prints go on exhibit at Vineyard Haven's new A Gallery on July 21. An opening celebration will take place from 5 to 8 pm for the artist, who studied with legendary photographer Ansel Adams.
The Chilmark summer resident is probably best known for her portrait work. She collected landscapes, still lifes, and abstractions for a book, "Close at Hand." Now she has published a new book, "Stone Walls: Personal Boundaries," in which she compiles images of stone walls and combines them with essays detailing their history.
Another A Gallery artist, Jennifer Delilah, will discuss how she develops the imagery in her oils, encaustics, and watercolors with a talk on July 24 at 5:30 pm. Her work incorporates historical narratives that can be risqué and challenging. For more information on these two events, call 774-327-9422 or visit agallerymv.com.
