Island Housing Trust announces green, affordable housing projects

By Caroline McCullough

The Island Housing Trust has asked for design and construction bids for two environmentally friendly affordable housing projects. The trust wants qualified professionals to design and build quality houses that optimize energy efficiency and durability. The projects require separate bids.

The first site, at 619 Edgartown Road in West Tisbury, is for two three-bedroom houses. The second site, at 129 Lake Street in Vineyard Haven, is for two town houses. All of these houses will be sold to qualified homebuyers of low or moderate income for between $185,000 and $225,000.

The Island Housing Trust is a nonprofit whose stated mission is to develop affordable houses to bridge the gap between high property values and the low and moderate income families who live and work on Martha's Vineyard.

Bidders may download a copy of the request for proposals from the Island Housing Trust's website at http://www.ihtmv.org/rfps; or reach Phillipe Jordi with any questions at the Island Housing Trust by calling 508-693-1117 or by email at IHT@vineyard.net.
