At Farm Neck, the women’s club golf championship was to have been decided on July 24, but rain washed out the final round and the event played out over three days before winners were crowned in three flights.

In the Championship Flight, Betsy Dripps won the club title over Anne Lemenager, 2-up, on July 26. To reach the final, Dripps shot a 176 and Lemenager a 173 to eliminate Helen Green, who shot 179.

Next to be decided, on Friday, was the ‘B’ Flight final between Mae Deary and Leigh Braude. The pair finished one and two over Connie Campbell, Elena Messina, and Gail Farrish in the qualifying round.

The ‘B’ final rated an ‘A’ for excitement as Deary prevailed over Braude on the first hole of sudden death, the “19th hole,” following an 18-hole tie.

Saturday, the tournament wrapped up with the ‘A’ flight final, matching Deborah Crews and Judy Maynes, who advanced past Abbe Burt, Kathy Severino, and Leslie Look. Crews won the final, 3 and 2, to take the trophy.
