It's big energy use
To the Editor:
Last week's article about restricting large house sizes in Chilmark shows, once again, that our planning agencies are confused. As far as impact to the Vineyard, it is not size so much, it is the result of wasted resources.
Most large homes are sheltered from view. It is the 200-plus years of excess utility use from these mansions that I am concerned with. As resources get scarce, these mansions will become a drain on our limited supplies of energy. So, I hope the planners make some alternative clean energy requirements.
