Permanent Endowment grant applications

The Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard is accepting applications for its fall grant cycle. “Through its grants program, the Endowment seeks to raise awareness of Vineyard issues, respond to community needs, foster collaboration among nonprofit organizations and support innovative approaches to improving the quality of life on the Island,” according to a press release.

“The Endowment welcomes applications from Island nonprofit organizations with IRS 501 (c) (3) status seeking funding for new projects as well as continuing programs that benefit the Vineyard community. In the past, the Endowment has provided support for the arts and culture, civic affairs and community development, education, the elderly, the environment, housing, health and human services and youth.”

Bonsai Club invites new members

The Martha’s Vineyard Bonsai Club fair exhibit attracted much attention. Those interested in becoming members of the club that meets the second Tuesday of each month at Polly Hill Arboretum or Donaroma’s Nursery are welcome, according to a press release. Yoga teacher training

Adult and Community Education of MV (ACE MV) will team with the Yoga Barn in West Tisbury to offer a 29-week comprehensive yoga teacher training course geared especially toward Island pre K- 12 educators, with optional college credit from Fitchburg State University, according to a press release.

The certificate course will be led by the former director of Kripalu Yoga Teacher Training, Martha Abbot, E-RYT 500, accompanied by Dr. Wendy Chabot, facilitating teaching yoga for children, experienced Kripalu yoga instructor Scarlet Jarrell, RYT 200, with ACE MV director Lynn Ditchfield guiding students seeking undergraduate and graduate college credit from Fitchburg State University for the course.
