Tisbury Police Officer Ryan Natichioni leaves the ranks
Tisbury police officer Ryan Natichioni worked his last day at the department on Wednesday before heading to a new job with a government agency. Because the position requires a top security clearance, he declined to provide more information about it for publication.
The new job opportunity came Mr. Natichioni's way shortly after he was promoted and assumed duties as one of Tisbury's full-time permanent police officers on July 1.
"The timing was unexpected, but as the saying goes, when it rains, it pours," Officer Natichioni said. "The agency was in a hiring freeze when I first applied three years ago, so it was a long process. I'm sad to leave here, because I really like the department. I would love to come back later."
Mr. Natichioni worked as a special police officer for the Tisbury police department for two and a half years. He was instrumental in creating and launching the department's new website last spring in collaboration with administrative assistant Patricia Mark. On May 29 the Tisbury selectmen approved Police Chief Dan Hanavan's recommendation to appoint him as a permanent police officer, effective July 1.
Mr. Natichioni grew up on the Island and attended Tisbury School. He started high school at Martha's Vineyard Regional High School, finished off-Island, and returned to Martha's Vineyard after graduating from college with a degree in criminology.
