I made a comment online the other day about how it seems that everyone is having a great Derby this year, particularly after hearing so many complaints about the lack of bites in 2011. The kids are crushing it, with Zach Murray, Zach Ward, Ellie and Caroline Dolby, and the Smith Bobcat kids all boasting catches. Ezra Agnew replied to my comment with his characteristic snark to the contrary, but lo and behold, even Ezra showed up online today, mugging with a fish in his hands. Someone’s grapes just went from sour to sweet.

Happy trails to Bobby and Morgan Lucero who are “going going back back to Cali Cali,” where Bobby has accepted a new job. The two will be returning to the Napa/Sonoma area, where they resided for many years before landing in Edgartown. Best of luck to the both of you. Your smiling faces will surely be missed.

The 28th Annual Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club Fall Golf Tournament at Edgartown Golf Club was a huge success, raising just over $9,000 to support the affordable youth programs of the MV Boys & Girls Club. 120 golfers enjoyed a great day for golf with temperatures in the mid 70s, a little bit of cooling wind, and a course that was in absolutely perfect condition. Funds raised through the tournament help to support the affordable youth programs of the MV Boys & Girls Club, most notably the Club’s After school Program (ASP). The ASP is open to all Island youth in grades K-6 for a nominal annual membership fee of just $20. Club members have unlimited access to the After School Program (Monday through Friday, after school to 6 pm), where they participate in a wide range of activities including academics, athletics, leadership and character building, recreation games, technology, and the arts. For more information about the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club, please visit mvbgclub.org, or contact Peter Lambos, Executive Director at 508-627-3303 or bgclub@vineyard.net.
