The Vineyard golf team played well in two matches over the past week, winning handily against non-league Cape Tech on Monday in Harwich, after losing a close contest with undefeated Eastern Athletic Conference rival Bishop Feehan on September 20 at Farm Neck.
In Harwich, due to Cape Tech's small roster of five players, the Vineyarders and Crusaders squared off in a rarely used match play format. M.V. came out on top 36-9. Matt Marchand was the low scorer with a 38.
Against the powerful Shamrocks on a breezy afternoon at Farm Neck, Marchand again shot a 38, as did Kat deBettencourt, but Bishop Feehan held on for a 239-249 win.
The Vineyarders are 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the EAC. The Purple hosted the Scituate Sailors Wednesday afternoon and they play at Dartmouth on September 27.
