Remember to register
To the Editor:
The League of Women Voters of Martha's Vineyard reminds Vineyard residents that Wednesday, October 17 is the last day to register for the upcoming elections on November 6.
Persons who want to register to vote include those who have a change in name or address or are registering for the first time. Persons who are eligible to register to vote in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts must be US citizens, residents of Massachusetts, and 18 years old on or before election day (they must still meet registration deadlines).
The League reminds Vineyard residents that they can register at their town hall in the town clerk's office, at the Registry of Motor Vehicles, or by mail using an official state form available at the town clerk's office or at http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/elepdf/2012-Voter-reg-mail-in.pdf .
In addition to the voting for a president, members of Congress, and the state legislature on November 6, we will vote for members of our Dukes County Commission and Martha's Vineyard Commission.
There also will be three statewide ballot questions. For more information on the ballot questions, go online athttp://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/ele12/ballot_questions_12/pip12idx.htm .
The League reminds every registered voter on the Vineyard about the power of one vote – your vote. Use It.
