Edgartown selectmen granted a beer and wine license to Lucky Hank’s, a new restaurant at 218 Upper Main Street during their meeting Monday.

No one spoke in opposition during a brief public hearing. Proprietor Doug Smith said he hopes to open the new eatery soon.

“Hopefully in the next two weeks, if I pass all my inspections,” Mr. Smith said.

Selectmen also approved a request from Lattanzi’s restaurant to close from November 4 to December 4.

Town administrator Pam Dolby advised selectmen that the Island’s cable advisory board anticipates a final agreement with Comcast on a new 10-year contract to provide cable service in the near future. She plans to include the issue on the agenda for next week’s selectmen’s meeting, and said selectmen will have to consider whether to accept or decline the new contract.

The issue of providing cable service to Chappaquiddick has held up agreement on the contract, which was extended several times since the original expiration date more than two years ago. Comcast recently offered to provide service to Chappy if residents share the infrastructure costs.
