Red Stocking Fund applications ready soon

The Red Stocking Fund has provided food and clothing to Island children from birth to eighth grade for decades. Last year, it provided assistance to approximately 419 children during the holidays.

Applications for Red Stocking support will be available by October 26 from elementary school nurses, at Martha's Vineyard Insurance Co. in Vineyard Haven, at most branches of Island banks, Early Childhood Office of Martha's Vineyard Community Services, DSS, the Wampanoag Tribe administration office in Aquinnah, the Island Food Pantry, Morgan Woods, and the Boys and Girls Club.

Portuguese speaking applicants can receive assistance in translating and completing applications at Health Care Access of Martha's Vineyard, or by calling 508-696-0020. People are urged to apply soon, preferably by November 15, so they can receive food certificates for Thanksgiving.

Wrapping of gifts will take place December 10 to 12 at Grace Church in Vineyard Haven. Volunteer wrappers should call Patricia Carlet to sign up to help at 508-693-3187.
