Does everyone have their costumes ready? It’s time for tricks and treats and spooky delights, pirates and princesses and pumpkin pie. Who will you be this year? I’m usually pretty on top of it costume-wise, but this year, I still have no idea!

First, it’s a matter of figuring out where to celebrate this weekend. Will it be the masquerade ball at the Harbor View or the annual Atlantic costume closing party on Saturday night? Or keep it low-key and check out Scary-oke at the Wharf?

Got to get it all out of my system, because Wednesday night, Halloween proper, is all about the kids as far as I’m concerned. I hope I’ll get some reports this week on awesome costumes so I can keep you all in the loop.

If you’re looking for a fun and educational way to get in the spirit (mua ha ha!), Liz Villard will be leading graveyard tours this Friday, October 26, and a second one on Monday, October 29, beginning at 5 pm. Liz is offering a discount for all the islanders who have told her “I would really love to do one of your tours, but I am too busy in the summer.” Just bring an ID with an Island address for the special price. For info, call 508-627-8619.

Travel correspondent Hilary Grannis made the trip north this past weekend to Paul Moreau’s New Hampshire house on Lake Winnisquam with Bill Jacob, Cheri Mason, and Jane Ford for Jane’s last weekend with her Island friends. Jane is moving off Island for a new and exciting chapter in her life. Best of luck, Jane.
