Oak Bluffs police search for curly haired house intruder

October 24, 2012

An Oak Bluffs woman who was alerted by her dog that someone might be in her basement confronted an intruder in her house off Syracuse Avenue at about 2 pm on Friday, October 19.

The woman told police that when the man saw her he immediately drew his long-sleeve black tee-shirt up over his face to mask his identity. She struggled with the man and reported to police she thought he might have had a gun. That set off an intensive search of the surrounding neighborhood for a man with distinctive long curly blonde hair and blue eyes.

Oak Bluffs police lieutenant Tim Williamson said police found no evidence a gun was used, but he advised residents to take normal precautions and lock doors. He asked anyone with information to contact police at 508-693-0750.
