Poets Corner: Gone

Gone

Dragging my feet into this one

more than ever before.

Closer to mortality? Dreading a late dawn?

My garden still lingers, teasing me

Nasturtium on withered vine.

The fatigue of cold coming in with windows closing.

September maybe, but certainly not October already.

She stands at the waters’ edge and waves goodbye,

O sweet summer.
