Despite heavy winds and hard rain from a raging northeaster at the end of last week, undaunted Islanders gathered needed supplies to truck to New York and New Jersey to residents struggling in the aftermath of hurricane Sandy.
Nicole Cabot of West Tisbury, whose entire extended family lives in New York and New Jersey, organized a coat and blanket donation drive. The West Tisbury School added to her collection with a clothing drive. Island Food Products supplied a truck to transport all the donations Islanders contributed, collected at the Hebrew Center, including food and water, and 32 bags of men's, women's, and children's coats and blankets.
