Oak Bluffs tree lighting November 28

0

This year, the tree lighting ceremony in Oak Bluffs will take place on Wednesday, November 28, beginning at 6:30 pm at Post Office Square.

The event is sponsored by several community organizations, including the Friends of Oak Bluffs, the Oak Bluffs PTO, the Oak Bluffs Firemen’s Civic Association, the Oak Bluffs Association, the Highway Department, the Park Department, the Brian Weiland Band, the Vineyard Brass Ensemble, Jardin Mahoney’s Garden Center, Mike Santoro, and J.B. Blau, manager of Dreamland.

There will be caroling, beginning at 6:30 at Post Office Square. All are invited to join the singing. The Vineyard Brass Ensemble will perform a medley of traditional holiday carols and Kathy Burton, chairman of the town selectmen, will light the town tree.

Holiday refreshments will be available at the Dreamland ballroom, next to the Chowder House (upstairs) on Oak Bluffs Avenue. There will be plenty of hot chocolate, home-baked cookies supplied by the PTO, and free antlers for all. Holiday music will be provided by the Brian Weiland Band and Santa and his helpers will stop in for a visit.

The event is free, but, do bring a food donation, which will be placed in festively decorated baskets and transported by Santa and his helpers to the Island Food Pantry in plenty of time for the holidays.

In case of rain, the caroling will take place in the Arcade next to Sharky’s on Circuit Avenue.
