The Island flag football season came to a close on Saturday morning with a slate of bowl games at the Martha’s Vineyard Boys and Girls Club.

The Ducks took the title with a 36-8 win over the Longhorns to finish a perfect 6-0 season. Jeremy Regan scored three touchdowns. Jake Howell and Sam Wallace had one each. Jared Regan threw three TD passes.

In the undercard, as it were, the Spiders avenged an early season loss and defeated the Pirates. In the second contest of the morning, the Fighting Irish’s luck ran out as the underdog Spartans pulled off a double overtime shocker.

League commissioner Peter Lambos, the executive director of the M.V. Boys and Girls Club, expressed his thanks to all the players, coaches, parents, and volunteers for another great season. And, on behalf of everyone at the Club, he congratulated the Vineyarders on an unbelievable and inspiring Island Cup victory over Nantucket.
