Calling all walkers, runners

Then on Saturday, Nov. 24, is the eighth annual 5K for KJ, which benefits the Kevin Johnson Cross Country Scholarship Fund. Register from 9 to 10:30 am at the M.V. Fit Friday at the Y

On Friday, Nov. 23, the YMCA of M.V. in Oak Bluffs is open all day for free for non-members. Dubbed Turkey Burner Day, all parts of the center are open to the public: group exercise classes, the lap and recreational pools, and the fitness center.

The Y is open from 7 am to 5 pm, with child watch is open from 8 am to 4 pm. Pool hours are 7 am to 4:30 pm, and swim caps are required (available for sale at the Y). For more information, call 508-696-7171, ext. 108, or visit ymcamv.org.

Fun on the farm

Native Earth Teaching Farm is having a fiber fair this Saturday, Nov. 24, from 10 am to 3 pm. Hosted by the Martha’s Vineyard Fibershed Project, which encourages an appreciation of local clothing and Island fiber farmers, meet the sheep and see the fiber become wearable art.
