Alba D. (Quaglia) "Mimi" Sobiski of Manchester, Conn., died on Friday, Nov. 16, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was 87.

Mimi was born in Manchester on January 23, 1925. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, and sports. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the UConn Huskies basketball teams. She was a beloved friend to everyone she met and was known for her generosity, kind-heartedness, and sense of humor. Mimi was a frequent Island visitor and had many dear friends here.

Mimi is survived by her three children, Diane Sertl of Vineyard Haven, Patricia Burgess and her husband, Robert, of Manchester, Conn., and John Sobiski of Lancaster, Calif. She leaves three granddaughters, Kerry and Amy Sertl of Vineyard Haven and Nicole Burgess of Manchester, Conn., a son-in-law, Sean Cummings, and great-granddaughter, Sophia Cummings.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital Dialysis Unit, who treated Mimi with respect and tenderness and provided extraordinary care.
