Shirley Ruth Pachico died peacefully at her home in Oak Bluffs on Sunday November 18, 2012. She was 81.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur F. Pachico, and her parents, Bertha May Silva and Anthony R. Silvia. She was born in Oak Bluffs on December 15, 1930. She was raised on the Vineyard where she spent her whole life. Shirley also raised her five children here.
Shirley went to Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.
In 1967 Arthur and Shirley bought the Ritz Cafe on Circuit Ave and made it into the great establishment and family run business that it is today Shirley belonged to the Island Doll Club for many years, while also making and selling her own style of dolls. She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit Italy, Ireland, and Portugal. But whether it was out to breakfast at Linda Jeans, playing games, or being the #1 go to for pops and candy, there was nothing Shirley loved more than spending time with her grandchildren on her farm in Oak Bluffs.
Shirley is survived by her son Steven Pachico and daughters Rebecca Greer, Christine Arenburg, Janet L. King, and Wendy Oliver, all of Oak Bluffs. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, Nov. 28, Trinity Methodist Church in the Campground in Oak Bluffs, followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven.
