The girls hockey team opened the 2012-13 season in fine form with a 3-2 win over Brookline Saturday at Boston University’s Walter Brown Arena.
All 19 players saw ice time and gave coach John Fiorito a complete team effort at both ends of the ice. The Vineyarders seized control from the opening face-off. Callie Jackson converted a feed from Kassidy Bettencourt to light the lamp in the opening minute. Less than two minutes later, Jackson and Belle Dinning set up Skylah Forend to make it 2-0.
Emily Cimeno scored on a snap-wrister from the slot for the eventual game-winner in the final seconds of period two. Aubrey Ashmun set up the goal after controlling the face-off deep in the Warriors zone.
Brookline made a game of it in third period but could not find the equalizer.
The girls were back in action Wednesday afternoon in Foxboro against King Phillip.
