Evelyn F. Thomas of Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly of Vineyard Haven died on Sunday December 9, 2012. She was 95.
Born on May 5, 1917, in Brockton, Evelyn led a full and rewarding life as a registered nurse and public health professional. She worked overseas in refugee camps throughout the world, including along the Thailand-Cambodia border, Afghanistan, Yemen, Togo, and Vietnam.
She retired to Martha’s Vineyard where she was owner of Tisbury Antiques and served on the Tisbury Board of Health, Board of Assessors, and the Martha’s Vineyard Nursing Association.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Ann Catala of Port Charlotte and Sally Ramirez of Panama; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron C. Thomas.
