Gas prices drop around New England
Gas prices dropped five cents a gallon over the past week and 16 cents a gallon over the past month, according to AAA Southern New England. A gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded gas cost an average of $3.42 on Monday, 18 cents per gallon more than the national average and 21 cents a gallon higher than the average in Massachusetts at this time one year ago.
AAA gas price survey participants found prices ranging Monday from a low of $3.23 per gallon to a high of $3.89 per gallon.
On Martha's Vineyard Monday, a gallon of regular unleaded gas cost around $4.39.
