Martha's Vineyard Bridge Club results

Despite the rush of holiday shopping and festivities there is still time for duplicate bridge competition on the Island.

On Thursday, December 13 at the Island Bridge Club (IBC) game – with five tables in play –Foster Greene and Anita Persson took first place with a 60.65 percent average game. In second place Rich Colter and David Donald scored a 56.48 percent average game. Bea Phear and Cecily Greenaway finished third with a 54.63 percent average game.

On Tuesday, December 11 at the Martha's Vineyard Bridge Club (MVBC), Bea Phear and Nancy Neil took first place with a 66.67 percent average game. In second place was the team of Barbara Besse and Bob Iadicicco with a 63.89 percent average game. And the teams of Barbara Silk/David Donald and Gail Farrish/Patsy McCornack tied for third place with 54.86 percent average games. Eighteen bridge players were on hand.

On Monday, December 10 Joan Perrine and Diana (Dinny) Dozier took first place at the Edgartown Bridge Club game with a 65.63 percent average game. In second place was the team of Dotti Arnold/Ency Fokos (with a 64.85 percent average game). Lou and Nancy Winkelman came in third with a 58.60 percent average game. Six tables were in play.

The American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) sanctions all three of the island duplicate bridge clubs although it is not necessary to belong to the ACBL in order to join these duplicate competitions.

The MVBC game is held on Tuesday evenings at 7:30P.M.at the Stone Church in Vineyard Haven. Admission is $4. Contact Sue at (508) 693-9396 or posturepal@aol.com for assistance in finding an available partner.

The IBC game is held Thursday evenings at 7P.M. at the Up Island Council on Aging Howes House in West Tisbury. Players needing a partner are urged to contact Gerry at (508)693-2889 or gsaverill@gmail.com by noon on Wednesday for assistance. Admission is $5.

The Edgartown Bridge Club (EBC) meets on Monday afternoons at 1P.M. at the Edgartown Yacht Club. Questions? Contact Mrs. Farrish at (508) 627-5476. Come with a partner. Admission is $6.
