Early morning crash sends West Tisbury man to hospital
West Tisbury police will seek charges against Erich Luening, 44, of West Tisbury in connection with a single car accident early Saturday morning, December 22, near the intersection of State Road and Upper Lambert's Cove Road.
Mr. Luening was driving down-Island in a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he drove across the opposite lane, left the road and struck several trees about 1:30 am, West Tisbury Police Sergeant Jeffrey "Skipper " Manter told The Times. Police, Tri-town Ambulance and fire department personnel responded to the accident scene.
Mr. Luening was transported to Martha's Vineyard Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Sergeant Manter said. Police will apply for charges against Mr. Luening in Edgartown District Court of operating under the influence, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, and marked lanes violations
