Free course offers help for families of mentally ill
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Cape Cod and the Islands is once again offering its Family To Family Education course for Island family members of individuals with a serious mental illness. The free 12-week course, taught by trained family member volunteers, is intended to help families cope. Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, anxiety disorders, and others are covered, as well as medications and communication skills. Weekly classes begin on Wednesday, January 9, from 6:30 to 9 pm in Vineyard Haven and continue for 12 consecutive weeks through March 13.
