Django Unchained (R)

A slave-turned-bounty hunter, helped by his mentor, embarks on a mission to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner. Directed and written by Quentin Tarantino. Starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, and Leonardo DiCapri.

Hyde Park on Hudson (R)

This is the story of FDR’s love affair with his distant cousin, Margaret Stuckley, played by Laura Linney. Bill Murray plays Roosevelt. It is centered around the weekend in 1939 when King George VI, the first British monarch to enter the United States, and his wife visited upstate New York. Also starring Olivia Williams. It has opened to mixed reviews.

Les Miserables (PG-13)

The musical based on the 19th century French historical novel by Victor Hugo is brought to film. Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert, agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s daughter, Cosette, changing their lives forever. Starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried.

Lincoln (PG-13)

During the final four months of his life, America’s 16th president struggles with the Civil War while he works to pass the 13th Amendment. Directed by Steven Spielberg, screenplay by Tony Kushner, from a book by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Starring Daniel Day-Lewis, who’s already getting Oscar buzz, Sally Field, and David Strathairn.

Monsters, Inc. 3D (G)

A 3D release of the 2001 hit. A gigantic corporation captures the screams of little children and turns them into energy, but then kids aren’t scared anymore, a problem. From Pixar Animation Studios, an exciting adventure with a sweet, happy ending, with the voices of John Goodman and Billy Crystal.

Promised Land (R)

Matt Damon plays a natural gas company salesman buying fracking rights from mostly unknowing landowners. He experiences life-changing events after confrontations with a too smart environmentalist. Directed by Gus Van Sant and written by and starring John Krasinski and Matt Damon, also starring Frances McDormand and Hal Holbrook.

A sequel to “Knocked Up” focusing on Pete and Debbie a few years later. Directed and written by Judd Apatow. Starring Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, and Maude Apatow.

Wreck-It Ralph (PG)

A Disney animated film about a very large guy, a video game villain, who just wants to fit in while wreaking havoc to the arcade where he lives. Starring the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch.
