Suns burn Lakers, lead RCBL by two games

The first place Suns began the new year by atoning for their only loss in the RCBL this season with a 99-79 win over the Lakers on Monday night at the Boys and Girls Club in Edgartown.
Asil Cash (30 points, six three-pointers) and Jade Cash (29) led the way for the Suns, who led 18-16 after one period and 42-31 at the half. The Lakers held their own in the third period but faded in the fourth.
Sterling Bishop (17 points) and Mike Baptiste (12) also hit double figures for the victors. Heath Estrella (18 points), James Rolston (17), and Damon Mello (12) paced the Lakers.
The second game of the doubleheader pitted the Heat against the Bulls. The two-time defending champs raced out to a 24-15 lead, but the Bulls fought back, and thanks to a 33-19 edge in the third quarter, stunned the Heat, 85-77, for their first win of the season.
Brant Silvia scored 28 to lead the Bulls, followed by Jaron Schilling (19), Asa Ray (17), and James Bettencourt (10).
Tim Scott drained six treys and totaled 23 points for the Heat. Lucas Brewer had 20, Cody Brewer 11, Matt Gebo 10, and John Netto 10.
