Truck jumps Circuit Ave curb smashes into store

A clothing store at 40 Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs was damaged when a truck jumped the curb and smashed into the storefront.

Oak Bluffs police responded to an accident late Wednesday afternoon after a driver sent his GMC Sierra pickup truck up onto the curb and smashed into B*tru, a women's clothing store at 40 Circuit Avenue.
The store was closed at the time, and no one was hurt in the accident.
The storefront was heavily damaged. A wooden panel was smashed, and a plate glass window was shattered.
Police said it appears this was a case of the driver stepping on the accelerator when he thought he was stepping on the brake pedal.
Police cited the driver, Peter Mercier of Edgartown, for failure to use caution.
