The Martha’s Vineyard boys basketball team got back on the winning track Sunday with a 53-46 non-league win against Lexington in Oak Bluffs.

Liam Weston scored 16 points and Jack Roberts had 15 as the Vineyarders turned back the Minutemen.

The Vineyarders improved to 8-3 with a mature, patient performance. The Purple worked the ball consistently well around the perimeter and played solid defense.

Izak Browne scored only four points but hauled down 11 rebounds and dished out 10 assists. Navardo Anderson had nine points and nine rebounds.

The Vineyarders built up a 25-13 lead late in the second quarter but the visitors came back with six points before the halftime break and kept the game close the rest of the way.

M.V. is back in action at home, on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 pm against Dartmouth.
