A festive Inaugural Ball at Grace Episcopal Church on Sunday, Jan. 20, offers Vineyarders the chance to celebrate President Barack Obama’s second term in style. Enjoy a social hour starting at 6 pm, followed by dinner, then dancing with Mike Benjamin’s five-piece band. Tickets are $125; $250 for couples. Happy Birthday, MLK Jr.

Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s 84th birthday this Monday, Jan. 21, at the First Baptist Church in Vineyard Haven. The breakfast event starts at 9 am, and features guest speaker Eric. V. Grey, the former CFO of The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts, whose talk is called Perspective – Reflections on King’s Dream Today. For breakfast reservations, call 508-693-1539. There is a $5 suggested donation.

“Hear our Voices,” a film produced by M.V. Regional High School students, will be shown Saturday, Jan. 19, at 7 pm at the M.V. Hebrew Center in Vineyard Haven. The film features discussions of meaningful issues students face each day, as well as celebrations of traditional dance and music.
