On Wednesday, January 23, Sail Martha’s Vineyard in collaboration with the MV Film Society will present “Captains Courageous” at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center at 79 Beach Road (in the Tisbury Marketplace) in Vineyard Haven.
This classic film, made in 1937, is a family adventure with an all-star cast. Based on the novel by Rudyard Kipling, it is the story of a young boy who learns valuable life-changing lessons on a fishing schooner on the Grand Banks off Newfoundland.

Island salsa is cooking
It is Salsa Night every Thursdays at the “V” (VFW in Oak Bluffs). Opening night is Thursday, January 31, for the start of Salsa dance classes.
There will be a party following the opening night class to celebrate instructor David Vanderhoop’s birthday and a new salsa year, according to a press release.
Beginners and advanced beginners classes begin at 6 pm followed by advanced beginners and intermediate classes at 7 pm.

Harbor View says yes to TLC
On Friday, January 18, at 9:30 pm, cable channel TLC will air an episode of its popular series, “Say Yes to the Dress,” which will include images of the Harbor View Hotel as the bride-to-be discusses her upcoming wedding at the historic Edgartown hotel.
