IHT's Vineyard Haven affordable housing wins award

Williams Building Co. Inc. of West Yarmouth received the Massachusetts Associated Builders and Contractors 2012 Eagle and Green awards for excellence in construction practices and in renewable/energy efficiency for their recently completed affordable housing project in Vineyard Haven.

Designed by LDA Architecture and Bruce MacNelly of MacNelly Cohen Architects of West Tisbury, these affordable duplex style homes on Lake Street were developed by The Island Housing Trust and have since been sold to income-qualified buyers, according to a press release.

Utilizing the highest industry standards for quality control, recycled materials, and no fossil fuel burning appliances, Williams Building was able to achieve Energy Star's highest rating, 5 Stars.
