Karen Clough Brussard, 59, died peacefully at her Edgartown home on Thursday, January 17. Karen was born on July 25, 1953, in Englewood, NJ to Peter and Shirley (Petigrue) Clough. She was a graduate of Kent School, Kent CT. After high school, Karen attended University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Katherine Gibbs School, and McGill University. Karen worked for the American Red Cross and in her later years worked at Morning Glory Farm in Edgartown.
Karen moved to her family home on Cottage Street in Edgartown and enjoyed living on Martha’s Vineyard. She was kind, considerate and devoted to everyone around her. Karen enjoyed helping people and animals of all kinds. She was an avid reader, enjoyed shoes and walking her dogs. She will be greatly missed by all.— We love you , Mom. You are an amazing person, and we will never let you down.
Karen was predeceased by her parents. She survived by her children, S.J. Brussard of Edgartown and Sarah J. Brussard of Lynn, MA. She is also survived by her former husband, Stephen Brussard Sr of Pelham, NH.
A memorial service celebrating Karen’s life will be held on Friday, January 25, 1 pm in the Federated Church, Summer St, Edgartown, followed by burial of her cremated remains in the Tower Hill Cemetery, Edgartown, with her parents. Donations in Karen’s memory may be made the Animal Shelter, PO Box 1829, Edgartown, MA 02539.
