Despite a snowstorm that hit Monday evening, about 100 people dressed in their finest attended the second Inaugural party of President Barack Obama the M.V. Dems hosted at the Chilmark Community Center.
The first ball in 2008 drew a packed house and organizers were expecting a similar turnout this time around, but were happy with the number who did brave the weather.
The hall was very festive with red, white, and blue decorations, the potluck appetizers abundant, and the crowd upbeat, dancing to music by Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish. POTUS and FLOTUS were on hand in cardboard form when, with quite a bit of fanfare, including sparklers and an honor guard, a huge patriotic cake was ceremoniously brought out from the kitchen.
The event was not a fundraiser but rather, "a big thank you to all the volunteers who work their butts off," Paddy Moore, M.V. Dems chairman said.
