Big Chili time

The annual MVY Radio Big Chili Contest is this Saturday at the Portuguese-American Club in Oak Bluffs. Known to many as the be-all-end-all winter event on the Vineyard, the annual benefit for the Red Stocking Fund starts at 11 am. Try dozens of chili dishes from both amateurs and professionals, vote for your favorite, and enjoy music from Entrain, Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish, and the mariachi band Mexico Lindo. Sports shine in student exhibit

Students in Corinne Kurtz’s history class, Sport in America, at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School are the latest guest curators to debut their work in the Spotlight Gallery at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum in Edgartown.

The students have spent the first half of the year studying the sports program at MVRHS from when it became a regional school 50+ years ago up until now. They will now mount an exhibition showcasing their work, “Playing Together: High School Sports Since Regionalization,” from January 25 to February 12. The opening reception is January 25 from 5 to 7 pm at the museum. For more information, call 508-627-4441 or email frontdesk@mvmuseum.org.
